The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.
The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.
The selected candidate will join its Environmental Policies group (EPS), a research group of the Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) research unit of ERIN. The EPS group aims to contribute to the development towards a tox-free, circular and sustainable society via science-based support to the definition, implementation and evaluation of environmental policies at national and EU level (in particular policies around chemicals, soil, (de)construction & waste, (industrial) installations) and regulatory support for RDI at the interface of science, technologies and policies. Typical outcomes of the group are (IT) tools, methods and guidelines for companies and authorities, regulatory expertise (opinions, reports, analyses, contribution of (EU) fora), helpdesk (high reactivity support) and knowledge transfer (events, platforms).

o Provide scientific expertise for :
o Contribute to the execution and management of projects or project work packages in the above fields.
o Also contribute to the further development of ERIN’s activities and contacts around contaminated sites and participate to the network of LIST’s different activities around soil protection.

To fulfil these tasks, the candidate will build, based on her/his technical and scientific expertise, regulatory competences on soil protection and chemicals legislation and tools for their implementation. Moreover, the selected applicant will benefit from the expertise of her/his colleagues and will be trained on specific related topics.
