If you are an IHG Rewards One member, be sure to check your email to see if you’ve received a new targeted offer.
IHG Hotels and Resorts just released a new promotion for its One Rewards members. For stays in IHG hotels during the month of September, members can earn up to 30,000 bonus points. If you’re planning a fall getaway, or think you might be on the road for business in September, then be sure to register for this program before booking your reservations.
TPG values IHG One Rewards points at 0.5 cents per point. At the highest bonus level, you can earn the equivalent of $150 with this promotion, not to mention the regular accumulation of points and Elite status qualifiers during your stay.

To take advantage of this targeted offer, IHG Rewards One members must register after receiving an invitation. (It’s as simple as entering your email address or member number plus password.) Note that this offer may be unavailable to members who did not receive a communication from IHG.
The number of bonus points earned depends on the number of nights you stay at IHG properties in September. Once you reach five nights of stays, you will have earned 10,000 points. If you stay 10 nights, you will receive 20,000 bonus points. If you spend half of September in IHG hotels, you’ll receive 30,000 points for 15 nights of visits.
The points awards levels are not cumulative. In other words, you’d just receive the 30,000 points for 15 nights of stays (not 30,000+20,000+10,000 for reaching each level). Additionally, the bonus points do not count toward earning elite status, although the regular points earned during your stay will register.
Qualifying nights are for stays at participating IHG Hotels and Resorts, Mr & Mrs Smith properties or Six Senses properties. Information about whether a particular property is participating in the program can be found on the hotel booking page. The total spend for a booked stay must be at least $30, so you can’t take advantage of this offer while cashing in free award-based stays.
The offer can only be redeemed once in September for a maximum of 30,000 points, even if you stay in two 15-day chunks. Only one awards member per room can take advantage of the offer for that night’s stay.
Points awarded should show up in your account within six weeks.

This targeted promotion is not the only way to earn additional IHG rewards points. Leveraging an IHG credit card is a great way to earn points, not only with stays but with purchases of everyday items such as gas and groceries.
If you do stay at an IHG hotel in September as part of this program, you can earn an additional five rewards points per dollar by using the no-fee IHG Rewards Traveler Credit Card and many of the other branded cards in their program.
If you don’t have an IHG card already, now might be a good time to sign up for one. You could even earn the minimum spend to achieve their bonus offers by staying at IHG hotels for your September bonus trips.
TPG reviewed different types of IHG cards to highlight their signup bonuses, benefits, and annual fees.
