In a celebration to mark 30 years on the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Belarus, Ambassador of Belarus Sergei L. Terentiev said he is looking forward to more cooperation and development of relations between the two countries.
The Embassy of Belarus in Cairo and the Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, organised a celebration on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Belarus on 6 February.
In attendance were President of the Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities Sherif Gad, its Secretary-General Fathy Toghan, visual artist Ibrahim Ghazaleh, and others.
The ceremony opened with a speech by Terentiev, who said that "diplomatic relations between the two countries began in February 1992 as Egypt was one of the first countries to recognise the new state in Belarus and the opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Cairo was our first in the region."
Terentiev praised the development of relations between the two countries in the fields of trade, economy, agriculture, industry, medicine, and culture.
The ambassador of Belarus thanked the Graduates Association, which plays an important role in the development of relations between Egypt and Belarus.
For his part, hailed the distinguished efforts of Terentiev to cooperate with various Egyptian institutions to develop relations, stressing that there are promising opportunities for mutual benefit in many fields, including in sports.
"We can prepare our Olympic champions through contact with Belarusian athletes, and the Belarusian heavy equipment is distinguished for its quality and low prices", Gad said, referring to President Alexander Lukashenko's speech in his meeting with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi when he said that Belarus has an open heart for cooperation with Egypt in all fields.
Toghan spoke about opportunities for cooperation in education and the establishment of a joint college in engineering.
He also praised the Belarusian health resorts that provide excellent health and recreational services.
Artist Ibrahim Ghazaleh said the beauty of nature in Belarus has turned into a source of inspiration for artist.
Ghazaleh stressed the need for direct flights between the two capitals for ease of cooperation.
An art exhibition by a Belarusian artist was held on the sidelines of the celebration.
The grand finale of the event was a singing recital by Mona Zeidan, a professor at the Faculty of Musical Education, Helwan University.
