CAIRO – 27 June 2023: Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq revealed in a statement Tuesday that he had chaired a meeting comprising Arab counterparts to discuss issues of mutual concern, mainly the developments on Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories and ways to deal with violence escalation.
"Egypt spares no effort in providing aid in various forms to the Palestinians," The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki said in a TV interview on Extra news Channel earlier in June.
He further explained that Egypt's support involves: political aid, initiatives and movement within the Munich Group and its presence in the Security Council, in addition to humanitarian aid especially to the Gaza Strip at many times, and opening its borders to the Palestinian people to help them.
He went on saying that Palestinians recognize Egypt's role, as Egypt has never failed the Palestinians in all the efforts to achieve its freedom and the sovereignty of its Palestinian state.
He stressed that "Egypt's support for the Palestinian cause is great, and there is a historical, geographical and humanitarian connection between Egypt and Palestine."
In another context, the Palestinian Minister said that Israel, since 1967, has planned for its occupation to be substitutionary, meaning, that settlers replace the indigenous population, preventing the establishment of the Palestinian state.
He added that the Israeli occupation continues to gradually annex the land through settlement construction and the demolition of Palestinian homes under legislation that permits settlement.
And he added, during his interview that Israel has never announced its approval of the establishment of the State of Palestine, or its willingness to withdraw from the Palestinian land, because this undeclared policy wants to take all of the Palestinian land. He continued saying, "in return, we work as a leadership to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of house demolitions, land confiscation, and the transfer of settlers to Palestinian land."
He stated that the international community over the past years was completely incapable of standing up to the Israeli policies, which succeeded in moving from zero settlers in 1967 to 750 thousand settlers, representing 20% of the possible population in the Palestinian land with about 170 illegal settlements, and it will continue until it reaches a point that the Palestinian land is not suitable for the establishment of a state on it.
Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, said that Israel's goal is to prevent the establishment of a viable, sovereign and geographically contiguous Palestinian state.
