Electra Bicycle Co. just launched a new Artist Series e-bike, the Kākau Go!, which pays homage to the islands that make up Polynesia—the birthplace of surf. Known for designing rolling works of art, this latest e-bike from Electra allows for the ultimate expression of design and style but not at the sacrifice of modern technology.
The Kākau Go! features carefully crafted details throughout while the pedal-assist e-bike system provides smooth support up to 40 miles.
The beautiful matte ember frame is reminiscent of lava rock that can be found throughout the islands—a deep, dark brown with flakes of metallic in brown and red. A satin finish tribal pattern that can be found throughout the frame and fenders is inspired by Kākau, the traditional tattoo art from done by tapping the ink into the skin. Patterns like these served as ornamentation and distinction and told stories of family heritage or symbology. The wood grain underlay represents the Koa tree and wood used for early surfboards and the rear fender displays a vintage image of a secret surf spot. Custom grips and saddle and a bell complete this bike.
But don’t let the name “Cruiser” fool you. Electra took the bike that started it all and kicked it up a notch with a rear hub motor featuring three levels of support. Even as a single speed, the Electra e-bike system tackles pesky hills and longer rides, and mechanical disc brakes provide powerful stopping while 27.5″ tires ensure a smooth ride to the beach and back. Custom fenders, saddle, grips and a matching bell make this one fun, stylish ride.
Attitude paired with the power of an e-bike, the Artist Series collection takes Electra comfort and quality to the next level by delivering unparalleled attention to detail, intricate design and individuality. Kākau Go! gives you that feeling of discovering that coveted, secret surf spot.
BACKGROUND
Electra’s Artist Series Collection: Art That Moves You
Years ago, Electra changed the game with their Fashion and Attitude Cruisers. They were artistic, fun, expressive and ready for the urban runway. Today, we’ve brought that inspiration into our e-bike and kids’ collections. Whether it’s art, nature, hotrods or robots, these designs belong in a museum or at least in your Instagram feed. While these bikes look amazing on your phone, they’re best enjoyed out in the real world, with real friends. Yes, the custom designs are amazing and yes, they’ll rack up the likes, but they’re built to ride. So, get outside, have some fun and make every day your canvas.
