Huawei has unveiled EMUI 11, its latest OS. The Chinese company showcased its in-house OS at its annual Developer Conference, the live stream of which you can watch again here. EMUI 11 is currently based on Android 10, but Android 11 should reach the OS eventually, though. Google published the Android 11 source code this week, as XDA Developers points out, so Huawei would not have had enough time to finalise an Android 11-based version of EMUI 11. Nonetheless, Huawei has made multiple changes from EMUI 10 and EMUI 10.1.
Huawei has refined the animations in EMUI 11 to make them look more natural. According to Pocket-lint and XDA Developers, Huawei based its changes on results from "human factor research", where it tracked the eye movements of beta testers to determine where they looked when navigating through the UI. Multitasking has also been improved through Smart Multi-Window, which makes apps floating and resizeable. Minimising these floating apps causes a bubble icon to appear should you want to access them again.
System apps like Gallery and Notepad have been improved, as has the Always on Display (AoD), which has gained greater customisation options. Huawei has synchronised vibrations across the whole system, too. XDA Developers has published an EMUI 11 beta changelog that we have included below, should you wish to read over it. Mishaal Rahman has written an in-depth hands-on about EMUI 11 on the P40 Pro, also.

Huawei has already started rolling out the inaugural EMUI 11 beta to some handsets, too.
