EMUI 12 is on the way. Huawei launched its own operating system, HarmonyOS, last year. The company has slowly rolled it out over the past few months, with Huawei recently claiming 120 million devices have received the update. It appears that Huawei is finally set to give global users a taste of HarmonyOS with the release of EMUI 12.
As revealed by Huawei, the company is set to roll out the EMUI 12 update globally to 28 listed devices. The list includes older devices like the Mate 10 and P20 series, launched in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The list is as follows:
We expect the EMUI 12 update to be based on Android 10, just like EMUI 11. It will adopt plenty of UX and UI features from HarmonyOS, however. Huawei’s software scene is a mess at the moment, and that looks likely to continue until the company either stops selling phones outside Europe or its restrictions are lifted. The EMUI 12 rollout is scheduled to start in the first half of 2022.
