EMUI has a number of new innovations and this Huawei software has various things to achieve better than Android nowadays. Android has just been lost in the middle of versions but EMUI is actually increasing features.
Let’s check Android and see how it’s doing at the current time.
Material You:
Android 12 has brought in a major change for Android devices that includes the Material You library. This new library supports dynamic themes and themed icons.
As an open source software, this feature has been transferred to other OEMs but what happened to Android 13?
As we looked into the features list, we’ve something new called ‘per-app’ language and a moderate change in themed icons.
Actually, I am also a fan of Themed icons and dynamic themes and by far, it’s one of the best innovations that Google has made over the past Android version. Material You not only improves the characteristics but also enhances the UI appearance.
However, is there anything else? Yes, Google says it has further improved the security and privacy factors of Android. Also, extended support for large-screen devices with the Android ‘L’ version.
Anything else? the answer is a clear NO. Android has not done anything else at the moment.
EMUI:
Even with Huawei’s smartphone on target, EMUI 12 has been by far the best user interface that Huawei phones have ever installed. The animations are soft and crispy and the consumer could really feel what they are operating.
Aside from the new UI and animations, the company has done something better than Android 13. What could it be? Well, it’s related to your interactions with the smartphone and it’s related to the
“Making user interactions real simple is better than making it ‘look’ real simple.”
“Making user interactions real simple is better than making it ‘look’ real simple.”
EMUI 12 brings features such as Control Panel, Notification Center, Large Folders, Device+, and other essential smart changes that aren’t available in core Android.
For instance, the large folders feature helps you organize the home screen apps into a folder. Traditional folders could also do that. Yes! But Huawei has made this feature to extend the size to large and it allows you to open the app without a need to open the folder first.
The rest of the EMUI 12 features are also amazing in their own ways, as they save you time and provide you better assistance in terms of simplicity, accessibility, and device interactions.
With the arrival of EMUI 13, Huawei will further strengthen the EMUI ecosystem and bring more useful and better features than Android, even if it’s powered with an Android base.

Huawei P40 series is the first to grab December 2022 EMUI security update in the global market. The latest rollout information appeared amid the wait for EMUI 13 that is continue to expand.
Huawei is rolling out December 2022 EMUI security update for the P40 series with EMUI 12 version 12.0.0.296. It’s good to see that the Huawei P40 devices are grabbing the latest firmware to improve their smartphone security. However, it would have been better if Huawei could also bring it a new major software update.
Last year, the Huawei P40 series was one of the first smartphones to participate in the EMUI 12 beta testing but now the company is likely to give this opportunity to the Huawei P50 series. Still, the Huawei P40 series is a contender to get EMUI 13 in the first round.
Huawei P40 series currently runs EMUI 12, which has advantages over EMUI 11 including a brand new user interface that allows you to enhance your user experience.
Huawei P40 series users can download this software update via Settings. However, there’s an alternative way through the My Huawei app that would allow you to request the latest firmware.
This new software upgrade is rolling out in batches and will take some time to expand over all of the users. Meanwhile, we can expect the tech maker to deliver EMUI 13 later this month or by January 2023.
To be mentioned, Huawei P40 models in China have already received HarmonyOS 3 upgrade. It’s the latest software version of the Huawei operating system and is packed with new features over HarmonyOS 2.
Huawei P40 series is boasted a lot of hardware power and a number of new features to provide you with peak performance. The phone’s remarkable camera provides high-quality pictures and is ready to support your photography user experience. However, Huawei keeps on sending new software update to improve this flagship and it’s quite appreciated.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro needs no introduction as it is one of the most successful Mate smartphones ever sold in the global market. However, the Mate 20 Pro users are still waiting for a new Huawei EMUI software update.
Back in September, Huawei rolled out a new software update for the Mate 20 Pro but it only brought in system optimizations for the EMUI software.
Meanwhile, Huawei has not released any details on Mate 20’s EMUI 13 upgrade status. Hence, it’s quite long for the corresponding smartphone owners to stay without a new firmware version.
On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 20 series is eligible to install a new software update in China. According to the information, the entire Mate 20 family can now register for HarmonyOS 3 beta program.
HarmonyOS 3 is the latest software that brings a bunch of new features and a better user interface. Interestingly, these features are derived also from EMUI 13.
Amid this development, Huawei Mate 20 Pro or other Mate 20 smartphones are looking for new software, feature drop, or security patch. Related to this, a user asked us whether his device is having some hardware issue or Huawei has removed it from the software updates cycle. But it doesn’t seems to be any issue with the smartphone at all.
To be mentioned, Huawei Mate 20 devices run EMUI 9.0 out of the box. However, these flaghip has later been upgraded with EMUI 9.1, EMUI 10.0, 10.1, EMUI 11, and then 12. The latest EMUI brings it a whole new user experience as compared to EMUI 11.
Indeed, the Huawei Mate 20 series has been low-prioritized in the monthly and quarterly upgrade cycle. However, the company kept on sending new software updates for Mate 20 series.
In the meantime, you can tell us and others about the last software update for the Huawei Mate 20 series.
What was the last software update you installed on your Huawei Mate 20 series smartphone?🤔🤔

We’re in December and still, Huawei has not served us with any details about EMUI 13 rollout. Hence, the wait is quite exhausting.
EMUI 13 is a brand new journey for Huawei smartphone users. Yet, it still remains enclosed on Huawei Mate 50 Pro, while we’re anticipating the next major upgrade.
On one side, Huawei phones continue to test new HarmonyOS 3 beta builds in China. On the other side, global users are upgrading with November 2022 EMUI security patch.
Compared to EMUI 12, Huawei is running quite slow, as it has not even started beta testing. Furthermore, the tech maker has not released the list of eligible devices to upgrade with this new Huawei software.
Users have been expecting Huawei to start delivering EMUI 13 by December 2022. However, it’s stretching too far. Currently, the company has not revealed anything special on this matter.
EMUI 13:
EMUI 13 is already listed on the official website and it includes new user changes in the feature section. It has new smart folders, that allow you to resize the large folders in different layouts. This helps you to organize the on-screen applications in a better way.
Global Huawei smartphone users will also get the brand new service widgets, which weren’t available in EMUI 12. Therefore, it’ll surely improve the screen on information for the EMUI 13 users.
If you are a quick action guy, then you should better look at the app swipe-up gestures. Yes, it’s an innovative feature, derived directly from the HarmonyOS ecosystem. You just have to swipe up to launch a floating window of options.
This window will be loaded with a number of key features of that particular application. This is one of the most interacting features Huawei has ever built on smartphone software. That’s not it, the app swipe-up feature is only available for HarmonyOS as compared to Android and iOS.
EMUI 13 also focuses on security and privacy features that allow you to view and secure all of your smartphone security. Yes, the uncertainty is there but we’ll keep you posted about all of the news about EMUI 13.
