Kopi Kenangan, one of the biggest “es kopi” chains in Indonesia, has introduced a premium version of their brand, Kenangan Heritage, last weekend.
Located in Senayan City, Kenangan Heritage is serving a wide selection of Indonesian coffee beans and offering an experience different from what patrons are accustomed to at other Kopi Kenangan outlets.
In late January, Kopi Kenangan announced several of their plans, including expansion to neighboring countries as well as Kenangan Heritage, which was described as a “museum” for coffee enthusiasts.
At first glance, Kenangan Heritage might remind you of Starbucks Reserve, the global coffee chain’s outlets that specialize in providing premium quality coffee beans and alternate brewing methods, including manual brew and nitro coffee. Kenangan is offering a similar experience, where you can discuss your orders with the baritas and customize your cuppa to your liking.
Still in its soft opening period, the coffee menu at Kenangan Heritage is divided into two major categories, namely Purist and Mixologist. Purist refers to beverages using single origin arabica beans, and you’ll have to ask the baristas about their beans of the day, such as Malabar natural and washed, Ijen Highland, and Flores Wolo, among others.
Mixologist, on the other hand, seems to be an option for patrons to choose the blends depending on their preferred caffeine strength. There are also non-coffee beverages such as Mae Hong Son Thai Tea and Green Tea, Teh Tarik, and Smoky Houjicha Latte.
Both Purist and Mixologist variants feature classic hot and iced espresso-based drinks such as cappuccino, latte, and americano, as well as house specialties like Gula Melaka Latte, Slow Cooked Caramel Latte, Mid Autumn Hazelnut Latte, and French Vanilla Latte — with the former category being more expensive than the latter.
There are tea and coffee-based mocktails you can try that fall under the Mixologist Signature category, including The Van der Man with rose and hibiscus tea, lemon, rose petal, and chickpea water; Guatemala Patenggang, with cold brew coffee, strawberry fruit mix, and oat milk Oatly foam; as well as The Kendaga that uses nitro coffee and smoked rosemary, among others.
If you’re into nitro coffee, which is technically cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen gas, you might want to try Kenangan Heritage’s nitro coffee and tea lineup. There’s also craft tea with various blends and flavors, just in case you’re not into coffee that much.
As Kenangan Heritage only serves various bread, cookies, croffle, croissant, and croissant sandwiches from Kopi Kenangan’s sister brands Cerita Roti and Kenangan Manis, this place might be more ideal for brunch or afternoon tea or coffee.
