TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – European Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, will be in Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday and Thursday (24-25 August) to participate in the Women’s Empowerment Ministerial of the G20 – held in the framework of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency under the theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’.
The meeting takes place at a time when the socioeconomic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are exacerbated by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, hence the importance of an equal and fair recovery. The meeting has three main focuses: care economy in post COVID-19 period; closing the digital gender gap; and women’s entrepreneurship.
Commissioner Dalli will participate and make a statement during the session on women’s entrepreneurship. She will reiterate the EU’s commitment to work together with its international partners to pursue gender equality both within the EU and worldwide. On the margins of the Ministerial Conference, the Commissioner will have several bilateral meetings with Equality Ministers also participating in the G20 Ministerial.
