SINGAPORE — Roads around the Marina Centre and Padang area will be closed for seven days to facilitate the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022 happening end-September, the Land Transport Authority said on Thursday (1 September).
Affected roads will close from 12.01am on 28 September for the set-up of race infrastructure for the event, which will take place between 30 September and 2 October.
All roads will be fully accessible by 5.30am on 4 October.
To expedite traffic access, race organisers will progressively re-open affected roads after the race, said LTA in a press release.
To facilitate morning and evening peak hour traffic, several road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the road closure period:

Those who are driving to the area on race days – 1 and 2 October – can access the Marina Centre area via a single lane along Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard from 12.00am to 1.00pm. This excludes those driving buses and vehicles with W, X, Y plates.
Taxis will also be able to use the single-lane access at all times except during the hours when the races are ongoing between 1 and 2 October.
Traffic wardens will be deployed on race days to direct traffic and provide public assistance, while directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists.
Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Walk, and Marina Square will remain open to public.
MRT train service hours will also be extended on race days between 30 September and 2 October. Train services will be available at City Hall MRT station till 12.30am on 30 September and 1 October, and till 12.45am on 2 October.
The operating hours for selected feeder bus services will also be extended to match the last train services.
LTA also advised members of the public and F1 ticket holders to use public transport to get to the Marina Centre and Padang between 28 September and 3 October.
The Singapore F1 race, which was the motor-sport franchise’s first night race in its race calendar, has been staged 12 times since its debut in 2008.
However, it has not been held in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In January, organisers and the authorities announced that the race will continue to be held in Singapore for another seven years.
