Electronic Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Facility Engineer – EPURE Valduc France

Are you looking for a unique and rewarding career opportunity? AWE is currently seeking a skilled EC&I Facility Engineer to join our team at the EPURE facility in Dijon, France. This role is to support a joint UK/French Radiographic and Hydrodynamics facility located 45 minutes from Dijon in France. The EC&I Facility Engineer is one of the positions permanently based on the project in France for up to 5 years supporting the engineering team.

You would be based in France to deliver professional engineering services for the upkeep of all assets and equipment AWE needs in order to deliver the Programme.
Location: Valduc- 45 minutes outside of Dijon, France
Package: £33,850 – £50,800 Plus Allowances (dependent upon skills and experience)

Relocation package available to support deployment to France
Key Accountabilities:
Apply technical knowledge for engineered systems and structures
Interpret and deliver requirements from the order book which may include troubleshooting, quoting, reporting, design, commissioning, and handover as required.
Identify and escalate business risk where applicable to plant and engineered systems.
Make evidence-based engineering decisions to solve technical problems.
Bring a range of EC&I skills to the team, which could potentially include one or more of the following Electrical distribution, functional safety, PLCs, machinery safety, intrinsic safety, BMS and specialist instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands on support for UK Trials at EPURE.
Development of Safe Systems of Work and Work instructions.
Acquire and maintain the necessary competencies to perform this role.
Develop awareness of team, function and company processes and technical capabilities.
Participates in collaborative working relationships as part of a team (internal/external).
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
HNC/HND with additional experience or a relevant engineering degree.
Proven ability to deliver engineering across similar manufacturing/research environment incorporating infrastructure facilities, plant, and equipment.
Experience of delivering facilities engineering and maintenance services across the life of an asset.
Candidates must be willing and able to:
Operate in workplaces of substantial hazard (radiological, explosive, toxic).
Comfortable with working in the defence industry in support of the UK nuclear deterrent.
Willing to relocate to France and live within 1 hour of the Valduc site and be permanently located in France for up to 5 years.
Undertake secondary roles for the UK Senior Technical operator in support of UK operations.
The ability to communicate in the French Language is essential for this role. Whilst training will be provided, if required, it should be recognised that significant personal commitment and self-study will be required to reach the required level. The candidate will need to reach DELF A2 ahead of deployment to work in the high hazard area.
Fit to wear respirator and work in a radiation-controlled area.
Please note: When first appointed in the role you will be based in the UK initially for a period of 6-9 months before being deployed to France. Once deployed to France you will follow the site standard 5 day working week, at the end of the assignment you will be re-deployed back to AWE in the UK.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
