A family has been left "appalled" after a bill for a meal at a popular restaurant in Greece came to more than £300.
The family, who have not been named, visited the Eclipse restaurant on Platis Gialos beach in Mykonos while on holiday. They ordered one beer, one mojito, two milkshakes, one Greek salad, bread and one portion of calamari and were shocked when they got the €360 (£309) bill back for their order.
Now, they have shared a copy of their bill online, revealing that the calamari alone cost £64.
The post on Reddit reads: "This is to help everyone and not get the feeling of being cheated. We were walking to find a spot in front of the beach at Platis Gialos and there are many restaurants with beach furniture in front of the beaches.
"As we were walking, a waiter at Eclipse told us we could use their cabanas or loungers provided we bought two drinks. We thought it wasn’t a bad deal and went with it.
"As we got settled in, he kept on pestering us to order to which my wife got a mojito while I got a beer. I kept on asking for a price and he cleverly avoided the question by saying he needs to get the drinks menu but it is cheap so please order. In the process he forced us to order milkshakes for our kids.”
Despite not yet having seen drinks prices, the family then decided to order some food after seeing a side dish of calamari on the menu for cheaper than what they were later charged.
The post explained: "As we’re sitting there for about an hour, we thought we might as well order some food which he recommended some calamari and on the menu it said €19. He said it comes with a side salad and bread which I again asked is it a separate charge which he said 'No'.
"In the end he handed me a paper with two lines which I asked clarification he said was food and drinks. I was already shocked at seeing 75 for the Calamari and 78 for the drinks but to get it over with he kept on pestering for payment and I gave my credit card.
"When the bill came back I was appalled as the Calamari was €148, the milkshakes which we never wanted but were forced to order for our kids were €38 each and the salad and bread which we were told were free were €28 and 14.50 respectively.
"I got upset and told the waiter and cashier that this was incorrect and they started grouping up and getting mad. The cashier took the receipt and chopped off the top part which had their name, address and date of transaction details. They didn’t bother for a signature after the transaction and simply charged my card a whopping €360.80.
"I felt so cheated and wouldn’t ever want anyone to feel this way. All the other restaurants and ppl in Mykonos have been really nice but Eclipse is one place where I’d clearly avoid."
Eclipse has been contacted for comment.
