France, Japan and the Netherlands all booked their quarter-final berths at the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup.
Nigeria made it three straight wins in Group C, when coming from behind to beat Canada 3-1. Kaila Novak’s early effort was responded to by two Esther Onyenezide penalties in an eight-minute spell, Chioma Elise wrapping it up in added time.
France edged South Korea 1-0 to go through, Esther Mbakem-Niaro on target 16 minutes from the end.
Japan did the Netherlands a big favour in Group D, defeating the USA as the Dutch beat Ghana to take second place in the table.
All the goals came in the last 35 minutes, as Japan beat the United States to finish on maximum points. Manaka Matsukubo and Shinomi Koyama found the net before Simeone Jackson replied, Haruna Tabata then sealing victory.
Liz Rijsbergen was at the double for the Dutch, Ziva Henry and Marit Auée also on target in a 4-1 win over Ghana, whose scorer was Doris Boaduwaa.
