Dear Tiatira Com,
With 5.3 million people, Sydney is Australia’s most populous city, which means it has an abundance of riches. But what are they? How do you find them? The answer is to live like a local, and with this guide to Sydney, it’s as easily said as done.
As I write this, it is in the high 70s and low 80s in this shining star of New South Wales. The summer sun glints off the million tiles of the iconic Sydney Opera House, now celebrating it’s 50th year, and provides a starting point for explorations that center on the allure of the outdoors. Visitors can even experience opera outside at the March 24-April 23 performances of “Madama Butterfly” during the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.
From there, give yourself over to the rhythm of outdoor dining and cocktail culture, gardens and galleries and, of course, the beaches of the endless summer. These sights, sounds and spots will suffuse your soul with all things Sydney. Unlike Puccini’s tragic “Madama Butterfly,” the love you’ll feel in Sydney will not be unrequited. We promise.
Stay curious.
Warmest Regards, |

SPILLING THE BEANS ON SYDNEY’S BEST SIGHTS |
|
If you had a best friend who lived in Sydney, what would he or she insist you add to your “must” list? Take a look at our local expert’s better-than-a-bucket-list compendium of what makes Sydney surprising and where to find it. (Who, for instance, would think you’d see lorikeets, like the one above, in the Royal Botanic Garden, along with cockatoos and other birdlife?) Just be aware that once you start exploring, you’ll find Sydney so easy to love you won’t want to leave.

SEE AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT |
|
You may have been to Australia or New Zealand or both, but that’s a little bit like saying New York represents the U.S. or Paris exemplifies Europe. Together, Australia and New Zealand (Manukau Heads Lighthouse, Auckland, above) total more than 3 million square miles, and Silversea gives you multiple lenses through which you can view them. Come, have a look at some of these journeys into ancient civilizations, history, culture and adventure.
