Across our six branches, our staff and volunteers have been seeing a significant increase in demand. That is the result of the skyrocketing cost of living which is pushing many people into poverty and is forcing people to make impossible decisions each week about whether to pay a bill or put food on the table. Each branch sees queues daily. Every day.
How Foodbank helps Joanne“When I know I don’t have a lot of money for the budget that week, I know I have Foodbank and I can get food for the kids. I don’t have $300 to do a weekly shop, sometimes I only I have $80. I can get three times as much with Foodbank.” While we provide food and essentials to those who need it, it’s not all we do. Because food is more than a necessity. It has the power to bring us together. To keep us going. To fuel the bright minds of tomorrow. And, to show we care. With your help, this is the power of what we do. We give hope. Families like Jo and Zade have the space to focus on getting back on their feet because they have food. Good food, whole food and a variety of food. Every day we help families like Jo and Zade. Can you help us get food to those who need it the most with a tax deductible donation today?
Food relief sector misses out in Federal BudgetWhen the Federal Budget was handed down in mid-May, we collectively held our breathe in the hope that we had finally been heard. The food relief sector had requested an annual Federal Government commitment of $45m per annum to ensure food relief could be available to those experiencing food insecurity all year round. Unfortunately both requests went unanswered with no increased funding to the food relief sector as part of budget measures designed to take the sting out of the cost of living crisis.
