After cycling to his nearest Mobile Foodbank service more than seven kilometres away, Simon was met with the smiling faces of our volunteers who made sure that his food needs were taken care of. For Simon, having access to the Mobile Foodbank is the difference between eating only one or three meals a day. His story is a common one. Hear about his experience.
Winter is hard enough without an empty pantry“There would be days where I miss meals so the kids can eat. I try not to let them see the struggles. But it’s exhausting and very stressful, thinking ‘what are we going to eat tomorrow?'” There are 116,000 children living in severely food insecure households in Western Australia. Zade is one of them. Zade doesn’t go hungry, but only because his mum sometimes does. Can you help fill the empty plates on tables this winter? Donate today.
Peel Thunder kicks for a causeThe Peel Thunder Football Club have once again rallied behind us to raise support and awareness for food relief. Their last match, the round five game which was held on Sunday, 7 May at Lane Group Stadium against Swan Districts, focused on raising financial and food donations which have gone directly to Foodbank Peel. The Peel Thunder charity match helped to raise awareness for the Foodbank Peel branch and further connected the Peel community while highlighting the valuable service that is available for people experiencing difficulties balancing a budget and ensuring they have enough food on their table for the whole family. Foodbank WA volunteers and staff were on hand to collect donations before the game and at half-time. As an alternative to monetary donations, fans were encouraged to bring along cans of non-perishable food to donate on the day. The event raised $3,782 and along with food donated on the day, this means Foodbank Peel is able to provide 7,737 meals for locals doing it tough. Our thanks to everyone who donated and helped to make the charity match happen.
Comforting Chicken Pad ThaiYou don’t need us to suggest a cosy meal on these Autumn nights, but our comforting Chicken Pad Thai means it’s not a recommendation – it’s a sure winner.
