Case in point: A house in the neighborhood of New Farm recently sold for A$3.85 million after being reclaimed by the bank. Victor Island, as it is known, is located in Whitsundays, Queensland. It’s more than 8 acres and offers a beach house and has a caretaker’s cottage, as well as access to the clear blue waters of the Coral Sea. The eco-friendly main residence has four bedrooms and town bathrooms, and features water views and landscaped gardens. realestate.com.au

Scraping Hong Kong Cooling Measures Likely to Bring More Buyers to the Market
More than a quarter of potential Hong Kong home buyers would jump back into the housing market if the city’s government scraps property cooling measures, according to a survey by Midland Realty. About 28% said they would rather buy a house than rent a flat in the next six months, but government regulations are holding them back. If the cooling measures remain, only 13.7% said they would be willing to purchase a home in the coming months. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu could announce the relaxation of property curbs on Oct. 25, according to reports. That could include the scrapping or lowering of stamp duties on some transactions.
