A Record Percentage of U.S. Home Sellers Drop Prices
Almost 7% of homes listed for sale across the U.S. had a price cut during the four weeks ending Sunday—the highest portion on record. The record scale of price reductions comes as mortgage rates remain at their highest level since 2000. With elevated rates cutting into home buyers’ budgets, some sellers have been forced to lower their asking prices in order to sell. Still, sale prices remain up 3% from a year ago, though that growth might slow as data begins to reflect sales that went under contract with mortgage rates at 8%. Redfin
Larry David’s One-Time California Home Asking $7.5 Million
A historic cottage in Montecito, California, that was owned briefly by filmmaker and actor Larry David is back on the market. The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star paid $5.7 million for the French Normandy-style residence in 2021 but sold it off again less than a year later. The current owner is having a harder time unloading the house. It listed earlier this year for $8 million and more recently got a $500,000 price cut.
