Fyre chef John Mountain has released a controversial clothing line in the latest step in his nuclear feud with notorious animal rights activist and vegan Tash Peterson.
Revealing a collection of jumpers, shirts and crop tops — celebrity chef John Mountain has taken after Peterson’s business model and launched his very own line of merchandise.
Several of the t-shirts poke fun at vegans while others controversially joke about people addicted to opiates.
One of the shirts has Tash’s name plastered all over it and says “absolutely f**king chaotic” alongside a 0.5 star review — a tribute to the explosive chain of events PerthNow revealed last month.
Sticking to the meat theme, another shirt says “pleased to meat stew” while another says “no animals were harmed in the making of this shirt”.
One questionable offering from Mr Mountain is apparel which reads “for meat we keep the curtains open”.
The war between 29-year-old Peterson and Mountain began when the chef banned vegans from attending his restaurant after a negative review was left by a plant-based eater.
Mr Mountain took to social media to say the ban was made due to “mental health reasons”.
Following the controversial ban, the chef’s Connolly restaurant then became the site of two protests against the meat and dairy industry by Peterson, her partner Jack Higgs and other activists.
The merch drop by Mr Mountain comes days after he told The West Australian Peterson was “desperately” trying to stay relevant by protesting at his restaurant.
“She’s just clutching at straws, desperately trying to get another 15 minutes of fame. Her only motivation is to increase her subscriptions on OnlyFans,” he said.
In the same interview, Mr Mountain forewarned his Fyre merch drop, urging members of the public to support his cause once it was released.
Since releasing on Saturday evening, Fyre Restaurant’s Facebook page has been inundated with messages supporting — alongside questioning — the chef’s motivation behind the clothing line.
Peterson has since been handed a liquor barring notice — which she recorded herself burning — alongside multiple charges by WA Police following a protest at Fyre restaurant on June 30.
Police allege Peterson acted in a disorderly manner during the June ordeal and refused to leave the restaurant.
Just a week after the June disruption, Peterson returned to the diner for a second protest — which police are still investigating.
Footage showed the group storming in and shouting with signs before Mountain and other restaurant staff physically forced them out of the venue.
Speaking with The West earlier this week, Peterson said the protests were justified.
“I’m there on behalf of the non-human animals who are subjected to rape, enslavement, torture, abuse and murder. It’s got nothing to do with him banning vegans,” she said.
“No, I didn’t (ever protest at his restaurant before the ban), I just leveraged that opportunity of him announcing he was banning vegans to bring light to the animal holocaust.
Speaking with The West on Saturday, Peterson said she was happy to get “The f*** out of here” before boarding a flight to London ahead of the Vegan Camp Out Festival.
In light of Peterson leaving the country for some time— and not protesting at his restaurant this weekend — Mr Mountain sarcastically hoped there had been another protest at his restaurant on Friday.
“It was all nice and quiet, I was hoping she would come in last night,” he said.
The merch drop comes nearly two years after Peterson launched her VGan clan merch line — which includes her “eat p***y not animals” apparel.
Other shirts include messages such as “End the animal holocaust” and “people who care about animals don’t eat them”.
Mr Mountain alleges he has also issued a restraining order against Peterson following the spate of protests.
“I’m not scared of her, but she’s got 80,000 supporters,” he said. “There’s a handful of f*****g nutters amongst the 80,000”.
