Geometry Auto, a new energy vehicle brand under Chinese auto firm Geely, officially announced on August 4 that it has reached a cooperation with Huawei’s HarmonyOS to create a new intelligent automotive ecology.
Geometry’s car models now on sale include the Geometry A, Geometry C and Geometry E, which are mainly compact and small cars. The newly released poster has the words “Powered by HarmonyOS” and a large OLED panel. The new EV model is expected to be equipped with head-up display.
HarmonyOS 3, released by Huawei on July 27, will be made available for upgrades in September for previous consumers. In this updated operating system, features like multi-device connection, functional cards, privacy and security are further improved.
HarmonyOS 3 supports 12 kinds of smart devices, including printers, smart glasses and cars. Based on HarmonyOS, users only need to turn on navigation on their smartphone, and the navigation progress can be seamlessly transferred to the car without further operation. Huawei’s Petal Maps also brings users a diversified interactive experience.
At present, HarmonyOS 3 supports apps in Huawei’s application store, such as Bilibili, Youku, Sohu Video, Migu Video, Ximalaya, Kugou Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and more. At the same time, HarmonyOS intelligent cockpits bring about intelligent services, including schedules, weather information, express delivery and so on.

Previously, Geely chairman Eric Li’s acquisition of Meizu, a smartphone manufacturer, ignited heated discussion in China. Industry insiders thought that Geely would probably adopt Meizu’s Flyme system on its own vehicles in the future. Although it seems that Geometry has temporarily abandoned Meizu’s Flyme, web users speculate that Meizu may build a new version of Flyme based on the open source Harmony OS in the future.
