The latest version of HarmonyOS (3.0) reportedly runs on 12 devices to date; however, there might be new hardware for it to reach one day. It may not necessarily be a product from the OS’ originator, Huawei, either: in fact, it might even be a Geometry car.
The auto giant Geely is behind the creation of the new brand as the latest channel to sell its EVs. Its sales were estimated to have grown 175% year-on-year in June 2022 – for a grand total of 12,163 unit shipments: not a lot in terms of the overall Chinese car market, to be real about it.
Therefore, Geometry could use a second big name behind it in order to scale that sales trajectory up – and it has one, in the shape of Huawei. The software giant has agreed to supply next-gen releases from the nascent brand with HarmonyOS as a smart in-car system.
The new solution might not quite be the full AI-powered cabin system developed for the new Arcfox αS; however, the established name in software might be enough to draw some consumer attention, as might the size of the dashboard display featuring the adorable little robot character in Geometry’s latest Weibo post. Hopefully, the real-life "powered by HarmonyOS" car can deliver on that spec as teased.
