You’ll get a six-month trip with a salary attached as an official ‘social media nomad’
Always wanted to go on a campervan trip around Australia and New Zealand but never quite had the cash to fund it? Well, here we might have your dream job. A company will be providing one lucky person with a campervan and a budget to travel around the two countries for six whole months.
Not only will the successful applicant be provided with the van, but they’ll also be paid 5,000 New Zealand dollars (£2,500, $2,800) per month to document their travels, plus a weekly stipend to cover food and fuel. And they’ll have their flight and visa costs covered.
So what will you have to do in exchange? Well, not much that you wouldn’t be doing anyway on such an epic trip. The job in question is a ‘social media nomad’ for payroll provider Deel. Sure, you might have to host a few remote meetings and do a bit of brand repping. But your role will mostly consist of sharing your adventures on the company’s social media platforms.
To qualify for Deel’s job, you’ll need three years’ experience under your belt as a social media manager, influencer or brand ambassador. You’ll also have strong English speaking and writing skills, as well as a valid driving licence (obvs) and passport (also obvs).
For bonus employability points, Deel has said ideal applicants will have prior experience creating content and a ‘special connection’ with Australia and/or New Zealand – which could mean anything from having ancestral links to the countries to being a Lord of the Rings superfan.
If all this sounds like your kind of thing (and, to be quite honest, we’d be surprised if it didn’t), applications close on October 11. Find out more and apply here – and cross your fingers and toes for a travel job like no other.
Did you see that Japan has reopened to travel?
