Google Classroom is one of the best and most innovative tools to teach online. Designed specially with schools in mind, it allows teachers to easily hand out assignments, collect homework, and even mark attendance.
The simplistic user interface makes it easy for students to adapt quickly. Unsurprisingly, the platform gained massive popularity after several countries imposed lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Learning Management System integrates several other Google services such as Drive and Calendar. Having said that, the developers constantly update the platform with new features seamlessly.
One of the most remarkable features the platform offers compared to its competition is the ability to make assignments and share them with students. Those who received the assignments will automatically get a notification that the upload is complete.
Unfortunately, it looks like several Google Classroom users are facing an issue where they cannot schedule the draft assignments. Many say that they are stuck on the scheduling page.
I keep having difficulties scheduling assignments. This feature has worked before (I have been using it daily since the beginning of September). Now when I try to schedule posts, it removes the topic and then gets stuck on the scheduling page. It is grayed out like it is working but never resolves and indicates the work has been scheduled.

I experience the same issue as of lately. None of the adviced suggestions worked for me. This is frustrating as I have to leave due to emergency for a week and need to schedule assignments for multiple classes in my absence.

Classroom users were frustrated since they could not schedule their draft assignments at all. Thankfully, a Gold Product Expert on Google Community Forums shared that they have escalated the issue to Google and even sent a video of what was happening.
I have narrowed down the problem, at least for what I am experiencing, to assignments I am syncing from another web site that has Google Classroom integration. I assign it, jump over to Classroom, and I can see the draft. When I open it to edit it AND add a topic, grade category, and due date, it hangs. I am not experiencing this with other assignments that I schedule, and also when I don’t add grade categories, due dates or topics. Our community manager has escated this to the Google team and I have sent her a video of what I am experiencing.

While it is still unclear when it will be fixed, we hope Google fixes it on their end as soon as possible. If and when they do, we will update this article so make sure you stay tuned.

My fascination with technology and computers goes back to the days of Windows XP. Since then, I have been tinkering with OS, mobile phones, and other things. When I am not working on anything, you will find me enjoying video games on some Discord server.
