Gordon Bert Seaholts, age 95, of Kent, passed away October 4, 2022 after an amazing life. Gordon was born June 8, 1927 to Charles and Bertha Seaholts in Jacksonville, Florida.
He attended public school in Plymouth, Ohio. Gordon earned the Eagle Scout award from Boy Scout Troop 1 in Plymouth, Ohio and hitchhiked to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico to work as a guide. He attended Ashland University and graduated in 1951 from Kent State University with a degree in Psychology.
Gordon joined the Navy at age 17 and served on the 110’ patrol tug Nasomsee as a recovery diver and seaman. He received the Victory Medal.
He owned Seaholts and Associates Real Estate brokerage, served as President of The Portage County Board of Realtors and developed many properties in Kent. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent. Gordon never met a stranger and loved meeting with people. He was a Mason, and past member of the Kent Jaycees. He was a strong supporter of Kent State.
As an avid outdoorsman, he was a fierce believer and supporter of wildlife conservation. He skied and hunted well into his 80’s and was fortunate to fish all over the world and up until his passing. He hiked the 4 day Milford Track in New Zealand and packed in on horseback through the Rockies but mostly loved anywhere on the water with his family and friends. Gordon was a strong swimmer and was a 30 year participant in Dr. Golding’s Exercise Physiology Fitness Program to determine the effects of extreme exercise on the heart muscle.
Gordon was married to his loving wife Maryalice, of 68 years. She preceded him in death September 24, 2020. Gordon is survived by his son Mark, and daughter in-law Dee Anna Seaholts of Kent, son Charles Seaholts of Kent, daughter Leigh Ann Kielty of Placerville CA., loving grandchildren Brendon Kielty and his wife Alyssa with great granddaughter Theia June of Placerville, CA, Marek Seaholts and Maren Seaholts of Kent.
Calling hours will be held 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2022 at United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 East Main St, Kent, OH 44240. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2022, at United Methodist Church of Kent with Pastor Dr. David Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the KSU Orchestra Society at www.ksuorchestrasociety.org.
