Huawei’s homegrown HarmonyOS has evolved rapidly since the advent of US sanctions against the company. The third iteration of the HarmonyOS is billed for a September 2022 release. The Beta version of the software will be out in the coming weeks, according to Weibo tipster, Changan Digital King.
HarmonyOS 3.0 was announced in October 2021 and its first Developer Preview was out shortly thereafter. The trajectory of the evolution of the HarmonyOS 3.0 has seen a review of the timeline. As per the details provided by the tipster, the stable release of Harmony OS 3.0 is slated for September 2022. The previous version (Version 2.0) was launched in June 2021 and its ecosystem is already 100 million.
The HarmonyOS 3.0 has an improved UI and better performance overall. It, however, doesn’t come with significant changes to the look and feel of the OS. Other accompanying apps like ArkUI have also been released. ArkUI is a declarative UI environment for building apps using TypeScript or JavaScript.
The Huawei Mate 50 lineup is predicted to feature one of the first models to deploy the HarmonyOS 3.0. The Huawei Mate 50 could be released by July this year. As for which existing devices will be updated to the new version, we should get an indication of that as the first betas start rolling out.
