The Alton Local Food Initiative (ALFI) has held its annual harvest feast.
Members met at the Methodist church hall and offered visitors coffee and home-made cake in the morning, and home-made soup for lunch together with bread, most of which was also home-made.
There was a selection of cakes including the popular beetroot and chocolate, apple, pear, lemon drizzle and many others.
Soup varieties included beetroot, carrot and coriander, and vegetable.

Decorations were autumnal, with each table having a decoration that was a mixture of leaves, berries and other fruits – for example hops – and one table was given over entirely to autumn displays and produce, including produce grown on ALFI’s plots and in its planters. Chutney and seeds were also on offer.
Those who attended were invited to make a donation for their visit and food, and these contributions more than covered the cost of hall hire, with more visitors and income from donations than ever before.
ALFI quarterly newsletters were there to take home, as were generic ALFI leaflets. Display boards showed some highlights of ALFI events, plots and planters in Alton over the past few years.
An ALFI spokesperson said: “We all enjoyed this sociable get-together, which was lively and friendly. Many thanks to the supporters who helped, made food and attended, bringing others with them.”

The spokesperson said: “It’s good fun and we need local volunteers. No experience is necessary.”
