The genesis for this series came from watching Max Zeng, the “human atlas”, help his team win in the British quiz show University Challenge earlier this year. So, that got us thinking, what other amazing young people do we have in our midst, here in Singapore?
We found some Super Teens who blew our minds. When producer Li Xinzhuo met memory champion Dhruv Manoj, the 16-year-old tried to explain the techniques he uses to memorise the order of 13 decks of playing cards (that’s over 650 cards in random order!).
Unsurprisingly, Xinzhou says she didn’t get it: “I found myself responding in shock. Like, you mean converting digits into sounds helps in memorising a random sequence of numbers?”
But this series isn’t just about their amazing achievements – we also explore the sacrifices they make, and the burdens that come with being a super-talented teen. Catch the final episode next Sunday here.
