LYNDHURST, Ohio — “Meet the Machines” may sound like the title of a dark, futuristic movie or perhaps the debut release of a very loud band. In reality, it’s the name of a fun, family-friendly event that is making its return to Legacy Village Sunday (Aug. 6).
From noon to 4 p.m., the retail shopping/lifestyle center, located on the northwest corner of Cedar and Richmond roads, will host an event that will give children and families the opportunity to touch and experience construction, emergency and service vehicles, as well as other machines of all makes and sizes.
The free Legacy Village outdoor event will be held on Main Street and The Lawn .
In addition to vehicles large and small, “Meet the Machines” will include a Nerdy Derby — in which children can use their imaginations and ingenuity to create their own racing cars with materials provided by event host Hawken School.
Children can then test their creations by racing their cars down a track at The Lawn.
The afternoon will also feature giveaways, live entertainment, safety information and more, including appearances by RealPopFusion, University Hospitals’ Safety Squad and a variety of popular costumed characters.
Featured “machine guests” include fire trucks, police vehicles, a bucket truck, a front-end loader and more.
“‘Meet the Machines’ is so much fun, and among the most popular Legacy Village family events,” Legacy Village General Manager Susan Windle said in a news release.
“Youngsters are thrilled to experience for themselves the vehicles and machines that make up their daily lives.”
“Meet the Machines” is made possible with support from Hawken School, the City of Lyndhurst and the Cleveland Division of Water.
