TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – General Manager of Project Company at Holywings Indonesia, Yuli Setiawan, said all outlets in Jakarta had been sealed off and closed due to business licensing issues. The company had even shut down outlets that have not been sealed off by themselves, such as the one in Pondok Indah.
“Almost all of its outlets in Indonesia have been closed. Outlets in Batam and Manado will be closed today,” said Yuli after a meeting with Commission B of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
Jakarta administration confirms issues on Holywings’ permit
The Head of Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Andhika Permata explained that the licensing check on the popular nightclub was carried out after the public unrest towards the franchise’s promotion of free alcoholic drinks for visitors named Muhammad and Maria. Andhika found that the Online Single Submission (OSS) document was not certified.
“They only have a Retailer Certificate (SKP) KBLI 47221, [meaning that they are only] retailers of alcoholic beverages. Seven outlets have permits and five others lack them. Besides, ones with the permit are only allowed for takeaway sale, not for consumption on the spot,” he said.
Holywings apologizes
On behalf of Holywings Indonesia, Yuli offered apologies to all Indonesian people for the company’s marketing campaign in front of members of Commission B DPRD. “Especially for Muslims and Christians, all religious people, community leaders, religious figures, and youth people in Indonesia,” she said during the meeting.
Yuli acknowledged that what Holywings’ creative team had done was inappropriate and could not be justified.
