The destruction of Steel Watch is a crucial part of the plot, and it will determine future events in Baldur’s Gate 3. These actions will take place in Act 3 and you will need to prepare for them carefully. So next, you will learn how to complete Disable the Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3. There are two ways you can do it. The first one is more cruel and destructive, and the second is more loyal to the Gondians, who are slaves of this large system. We’ll tell you more about each of them below so that you can choose the one that best suits your playthrough.
As we mentioned above, there are two ways to accomplish this task. Each of these options refers to a specific quest, namely:
As you might have guessed, the second option is more noble because you will help an entire nation get out of prison, thereby ensuring allies in the future. Well, let’s talk more about each of the options below.
To start the Avenge the Ironhands quest, you’ll need to find Wulbren. If you rescued him from Moonrise Tower earlier, you can find him at the Baldur’s Gate checkpoint. To get to him, you’ll need to follow the Ironhand gnomes, who will help you escape from the Steel Watch and lead you to Wulbren. After talking to him, you’ll find out that he has a Runepowder Bomb that he wants to use to blow up the Steel Watch Foundry in Baldur’s Gate 3. This task will is yours, so get ready for a challenging and intense adventure.
First, you should get to the Steel Watch. The best way to get there is through the locked steel door on the south side. Here are the coordinates: X: -292, Y: -172. Here you will need to open the door with a lockpick and go inside. After watching the cutscene in which Gortash threatens one of the Gondians, you’ll need to go to the west side of the facility, where the Gondian Zanner Toobin is located. Talk to him to find out more information about the Gondians.
Now you have to head down to the Foundry by taking the stairs down near the Gondian Zanner Toobin. At this stage, we recommend using only 1-2 characters who are the best at stealth because you will need to avoid fights and sneak to the right location unnoticed. Before planting a bomb in the machine, you will need to open the door to the last area and for this, you need to roll a dice of at least 30.
When you plant the bomb, it will explode, causing huge destruction. When you escape from there, you will meet Wulbren and the last surviving Gondian, namely Zanner. This will make Wulbren angry, and he will tell you to kill Zanner and you can either agree or refuse. If you refuse, Wulbren will get angry and promise to take revenge on you. Now let’s move to the other way to complete Disable the Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3.
To start this quest, you will have to follow the initial steps from the previous option, namely, to reach Gondian Zanner Toobin. When you start the quest, you’ll start a timer that will count down to the time you need to save the Gondians.
They are in an underwater prison, and you have to get there using a submarine. To achieve this, find a hidden structure, northwest of the Steel Forge, called Flymm Cargo. The door to the dock will be locked, so you’ll need to use a lockpick to open it. Once inside, head to the northwest of the building, where you can find a hidden hatch. Use it to go down to the basement and find Redhammer there. This character transports everyone to the Iron Throne, the local prison, and does so solely on Gortash’s orders. You’ll have to pass a skill test to convince him that Gortash ordered you to prison.
Now you need to free the Gondian prisoners as quickly as possible, then head back to Zanner to share the news. When you do, you’ll be able to proceed to the second stage, where you and the Gondians will fight back against the enemies. You’ll need to protect the Gondians and fight alongside them as you progress through the floors of Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3. As a result of the battle, you will find yourself in the last event area, where you will have to defeat the Steel Watch Titan. This is a rather difficult boss, given that it is protected by several guards. We recommend killing them first and then fighting the boss.
When you defeat him, the last step is to talk to Zanner, after which he can destroy the Steel Watch. The ending of this quest is almost identical, and Wulbren will ask you if you want to join him. The choice is yours, and then the quest will be completed.
Now you know about the two options to complete Disable the Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3, pick the best one, and continue your journey!
