Like most other life simulation titles, such as Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and Disney Dreamlight Valley, Square Enix’s Harvestella also features a farming and crop harvesting system. However, considering its part action RPG and part simulation, the feature is relatively simpler than the others, making the game easy to get into. If you need help starting your own farm in Harvestella, this guide will help you with the basics of Farming and Harvesting.
First thing first: before you can start Farming in Harvestella, obviously, you would need the tools. These should be provided by Cres, the Doctor, once you begin your second day in Chapter 1 of the game:
The first few days should be filled with tutorials, so just follow what the NPCs say to learn about the basics and finish them.
The tutorial will provide you with a 7×7 (49) square of space just outside your home in Bird’s Eye Brae. But more locations should be accessible once you progress through since you should be able to grow seeds on any patch of land. And don’t forget to get the Hammer as soon as possible. Hammer can be used to clear the debris littering your farm, which means you can start growing more crops around the area.
Now use the Hoe item that Cres gave you to plow the land. You need to do this before you can start planting crop seeds:
With the land having been plowed, now you can finally plant seeds for the crops:
Of course, for the crops to grow, you need water:
Usually, plant seeds will take 1 to 3 days to grow fully, depending on the crops. With that in mind, don’t forget to water them daily, after you plant them, when you wake up, and on and on.
Now when you see the plants have fully grown in the morning, simply walk to them and go inside the blue box. Then press the B button to harvest them. And that’s it. You are now a full-fledged farmer, ready to take on any challenges in the land of Seaslight!
Harvestella is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
