Looking for the best ways to keep a fresh garden and which crops you should be growing? Here’s a guide on everything you need to know.
Learn everything there is to know about farming and gardening so you can more easily help your villagers and earn money. There's no way to avoid farming in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it's a very reliable source of income, and it grows crops that you can then use to give your villagers, eat to regain energy or use in cooking.
So, taking all of this into account, it's best to know everything there is to know about the farming mechanic in this game. It can help you tremendously as you keep progressing and require more and more resources for your Valley.
This guide is based on early access content and is subject to change in the future.
Although there is an extensive amount of crops in Disney Dreamlight Valley, farming itself is actually a simple task. It can be quite relaxing; you can do it just about anywhere and decorate your surroundings however you please. All you need is a shovel, a watering can, and some seeds.
You can invite a character specialized in gardening to tag along by asking them to 'hang out.'
It'll increase your friendship with them whenever you're doing farming-related activities, and they'll help you harvest more crops, maximizing your efficiency.
There are two ways to obtain seeds, they either can be found at random when you get rid of thorns around the Valley, or they can be purchased from Goofy at any of his Stalls and upgraded Stalls.
If it's raining when you plant your crops, they will appear as if they've been watered; however, if they don't grow while it's still raining, they will dry, and you will have to water them so they can grow. At the moment, it's unclear if the plants drying back up is a bug or if it's on purpose.
New crop types can only be obtained by unlocking new regions with new Goofy Stalls that you can build. You can then upgrade them by clicking on Scrooge McDuck's sign. Each upgrade will add a new crop type as well. Here is where you can get each type of crop:
As you progress through these regions, Stall upgrades will also progressively increase in price, so be sure to start saving up for them as you unlock them.
A Bonus Crop is something awesome to experience – it's when you're harvesting a crop, and it starts emitting a fascinating and intense, glowing orange light. When this happens, you can harvest as many of the crop in that hole as you want for a limited amount of time, so you have to react very quickly.
Your energy bar will also temporarily stop going down as you harvest the crop, and it will appear yellow.
However, unfortunately, it is quite unpredictable. At the moment, it seems that Bonus Crops happen randomly, and there's no way to cause them.
All crops are different. They vary when it comes to seed price, time to grow, and how much they're worth once harvested in terms of gold and energy. To make an analysis, it's important first to take a look at each crop's stats.
Given their diverse stats, each crop has its own value. If you want to create a farm for when you're AFK during the night, Pumpkins are what you should aim for. Even though they take four hours to grow, there's a lot of profit to be made afterward.
If you want something that'll grow faster but still generate a decent amount of profit, Potatoes are a great product.
If you want to get your energy back up without having to head back home constantly, then eggplants, cucumbers, and onions are exactly what you're looking for.
Much like Moana's fishing boat, you can unlock Wall-E's garden. Wall-E is very much connected to plants and farming, and he's the perfect companion to give the gardening profession to. Increase your friendship with Wall-E and complete his missions; once he's returned to the Valley he'll ask you to help him repair the garden in Peaceful Meadow.
To repair the garden, you have to craft one trellis (three soil, 15 softwood, two white & pink falling penstemon) and three burlap bags (ten soil, 20 fiber) and then get five sugarcane seeds and five wheat seeds. Once you hand in and complete his request, the garden will be repaired and back in business.
Just like Goofy's Stalls and Moana's Boat, you can upgrade a few times to improve it – upgrading the garden will make it so there are more spots for crops, and you will consume less energy when using it.
Check the garden from time to time and harvest whatever you see has grown. As you unlock more crops, more Wall-E will plant during his spare time.
