The HTC One brings HTC Sense 5 and a collection of new features to the HTC One that deliver an enhanced Android experience that users cannot find on a device like the Nexus 4.
HTC loads in a new skin that looks great on the HTC One’s 1080P HD display and packs in special HTC Apps and HTC One software features that complement the HTC One’s great looking all metal design.
As the HTC One makes its way to Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile on April 19th, we want to share a closer look at the HTC One software, so that users can get a better feel for the HTC Sense 5 software. Some of these HTC Sense 5 software features will eventually arrive on other HTC devices according to rumors, but they land first on the HTC One.

The video below highlights what the HTC One can do thanks to HTC Sense 5. The six-minute video shows HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, a tour of the HTC Sense 5 home screen and a collection of other HTC Sense 5 features.
The main home screen on the HTC One is HTC BlinkFeed. With HTC BlinkFeed, users will see a customizable list of news, social updates and more when unlocking the phone. At the top of the HTC BlinkFeed screen is the current time and weather, users can scroll through the BlinkFeed, pull down notifications on this screen or swipe right to left to get to a standard Android home screen.
HTC BlinkFeed offers fast access to news and social networks, and is customizable.
Users can connect to social networks and customize news sources based on specific partners and interests. The HTC BlinkFeed screen also lets users tweet or post to Facebook right from that screen.
Here’s a look at the customizable HTC Sense 5 apps launcher.
The HTC Sense 5 launcher looks similar to an Android home screen, but with better spacing and nicer looking folders. HTC starts users off with the several pre-configured folders for apps and allows users to customize the layout of apps and create more folders. There are also options to change how the home screen is sorted.
There is an IR port in the power button of the HTC One which allows user to control an HDTV, cable box, receiver and more. Setup is swift and many brands and cable or satellite providers are supported.
HTC Sense TV is a companion app that turns the HTC One into a remote control.
The HTC Sense TV app asks for favorite shows and offers up an easy way to see what’s on and one touch access to the show. It’s also easy to add a friend’s HDTV to the mix for control or practical jokes.
The HTC Sense 5 lock screen includes fast access to apps, time and weather.
The HTC Sense 5 lock screen is pretty standard with a customizable background, the time and weather. Users can put on typical Android lock screen security and there is the ability to launch up to four commonly used apps directly from the lock screen. There is no support for lock screen widgets yet.
After swiping off of HTC BlinkFeed, users are greeted with a standard Android home screen setup. The HTC Sense 5 software on the HTC One allows users to add screens, arrange apps and add widgets to each screen.

Users can hold the home button to launch Google Now and double tap the home button to access recently used programs.
With the HTC One camera app, users can turn on HTC Zoe to capture a short video and a photo. This feature turned out great on a recent weekend trip, capturing more than a single photo could. Check out this HTC Zoe sample.
HTC Sense 5 on the HTC One includes the ability to capture an HTC Zoe with the tap of a finger.
There are many ways to use this feature, including setting up multiple frames on the screen at once and sharable galleries with HTC Share. Users can swipe up or down to switch between cameras.
With HTC Sense 5 and the HTC One users get HTC BoomSound. While this is mainly a hardware feature, we take a look at the BoomSound feature which now includes Beats Audio enhancements in all apps that play music or movies, not just the stock music player.

There is quite a lot to look forward to when the HTC One arrives. I can’t say that I’d use the HTC Sense TV as much, though I’m sure it would look nice on the 1080p display. Watching my live and recorded shows on my phone while I’m on my way to work at DISH is a big thing for me, since it takes a while to get there. I use the DISH Anywhere app to this, and I think it would well with the HTC One.
