Huawei, which is negatively affected by the tension between the USA and China, cannot offer Google apps preloaded on their devices. The brand, which has been working for a long time to eliminate this disadvantage, has signed an important agreement with the video-sharing service Dailymotion.
Huawei Video platform has been bringing various entertainment contents, especially movies and series, to the users. According to Reuters, a strategic cooperation has been established with Dailymotion to develop this platform. Thanks to this partnership, Huawei Video will integrate Dailymotion’s video processing and playback infrastructure. In addition, thanks to the common use of Dailymotion API, the content on the video-sharing platform can also be available in the platform created by the brand.
The collaboration between Huawei and Dailymotion is not a big surprise. The Chinese brand offers an ecosystem called Huawei Mobile Services (HMS Core) as an alternative to Google on devices that it has recently announced. In this context, the restructured video application will use Dailymotion’s technical infrastructure to strengthen its hand against YouTube in the new period. In addition, functions such as monetization to attract more creators to the platform should be available in stages.
On the other hand, the app market of the brand, AppGallery, continues to develop in itself. Finally, note that the app market, which includes applications such as Here Maps and Petal Search, has 400 million active users in more than 170 countries.
Recently, Huawei officially unveiled its Petal Search search engine. The company, under American sanctions, lost access to Google services, therefore, develops its own alternative products. The search engine is now available for download from the AppGallery.
In Petal Search, users can not only search for the necessary information. But also view news, weather forecasts, videos, listen to music, book hotel rooms and download applications. In addition, Huawei promises to gradually expand the functionality of the service.
The company has been developing this service for over a year. During the tests, the search service’s previous name was Huawei Search, and it was in tests since February 2020. Now, a stable version of Petal Search has appeared for download in the Huawei online store. All Huawei and Honor devices can install it now.
