According to Frandroid, Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed the launch date of the upcoming Huawei P40 and P40 Pro handsets. The company will launch the devices at an event in Paris toward the end of March 2020. Yu did not reveal an exact launch date or release schedule apart from that.
We already knew Huawei was planning a global release for the P40 series of devices next year, despite the Mate 30 being a China-exclusive device. Yu said consumers can expect a decent upgrade over the current Huawei P30 and P30 Pro devices, including a new design, improved camera quality, better performance, and improved AI functionality.
Don’t miss: How could Huawei release a P40 Pro in early 2020? Here are some theories.
The devices will also include Android 10 with the EMUI skin atop since Huawei’s Harmony OS won’t be ready for the limelight just yet. Unsurprisingly, we also don’t expect Google services to come on these devices. Huawei is still banking on its own mobile services to bring success to the device.
We aren’t completely sure which markets can expect to see the devices. And amid the Huawei vs US trade ban debacle, we don’t know how well the devices will fair outside of China. It’s hard to imagine people paying for a flagship device that will come without Google services, particularly in Western markets. We have some theories on how Huawei will handle this all, but only time will tell what the company really does.
