Large queues were also building up for the tills this evening
Huge queues were spotted in an Asda supermarket in Hull this evening after the chain reopened following the Queen's funeral.
While many larger supermarkets, including Tesco, Aldi and Lidl, decided to shut completely for the day, Asda announced it would reopen at 5pm, after allowing staff time off to watch the funeral. Soon after reopening this evening, the supermarket in Hessle Road saw huge demand.
Large queues were also building up for the tills this evening. "The queues are stretching way back down the aisles", a witness told Hull Live.

Meanwhile pancakes were unavailable, while one man was seen buying dozens of bottles of water. "The bread and cereal aisles are emptying quickly," the witness added. However, it was not clear if the bakery was operating to full capacity due to the late opening.
Tesco Express stores were also reopening at 5pm, along with Sainsbury's Local stores. Sewell on the Go, usually open 24 hours a day, closed between 10.30am-1.30pm. Among other venues reopening this evening were McDonald's drive-thru restaurants.
One special item Asda customers will have struggled to find this evening was the Queen's favourite tipple, a cocktail of Dubonnet and gin. While there was plenty of gin to go round, the rather exclusive Dubonnet was not immediately available. Those wishing to toast the memory of the Queen were advised to try Pimms or Vermouth instead.
This evening's queues come after hundreds of people gathered in Queen Victoria Square to watch a communal screening of the Queen's funeral on a big screen at Hull City Hall. Others attended fully booked screenings at local cinemas, while the ceremonies were also shown at Beverley Minster.
