A FASHION fan has sent Penneys shoppers into a frenzy after she tried the retailer's new controversial butterfly tops.
Taking to TikTok, Nia Gallagher, who posts under the username @nia_gall, shared her thoughts on the pieces.
The tops have previously divided opinion after some shoppers were left desperate to nab the butterfly sequin top, while others admitted to feeling 'traumatised' by the new piece of clothing.
However, Nia loved the looks as she explained: "I went to Penneys for a pair of socks. It never happens, does it? No.
"So I've come out now with a few fabulous pieces that I cannot wait to show you guys.
"Lovely stuff for festivals, just for summer pieces that I picked up. Just a few bits."
She added: "We are starting off very strong. I seen these on TikTok UK Primark page, and I was wondering when are they going to launch in Ireland.
"They are here. These are cute little tops. Would you believe they're tops girls?
"Straps at the back there to keep it all secure.
"But aren't they just stunning? They're butterflies.
"Wear them with skirts with shorts, a pair of jeans, absolutely anything and everything goes with these.
"And, of course, I got both colours. I hate to say that I am a big pink gal. It works for me with the blonde hair, I just think.
"But isn't this just so fabulous for a festival? I could be wearing this out for drinks.
"Girls, get in there quick before they're gone."
Primark's official TikTok account recently posted on their official account, showing off the new-in sequin bralettes.
The high-street chain shared the video with the caption 'She's perfection. Coming very soon.'
In the nine-second video, the chain showed off the new Penneys bralette tops.
Known for its slinky design, butterfly-shaped bodice, and tied-up open back – the butterfly top first launched into pop culture at the VH1 Divas Live concert in 2000.
Viewers saw Mariah Carey walk the red carpet wearing a colourful, beaded version.
And so it's no surprise that the top making a comeback has left many open-mouthed.
But TikTok users were left divided at the tops – while some loved them, others weren't so keen.
At the same time, many were stunned that the winged top trend was making a comeback after so many years.
One person said: "TRAUMA FLASHBACK off being too fat to wear these when they were first in fashion."
Another added: "What in the 90s is going on #trauma."
A third commented: "I can't believe this is all coming back around."
Someone else joked: "Did I just wake up in 2002?!"
Another asked: "Have we gone back to the late 90s early 2000s?"
At the same time, fashion fans shared their thoughts on the butterfly tops.
One fashion fan posted: "Idk if they're nice or not."
However, Nia's fans agreed with the influencer as they professed: "Obsessed with corsets and the butterfly tops !!!"
Another said: "They are lovely you'll look stunning gal".
While a third wrote: "BUTTERFLY TOPS OMG".
