It’s becoming increasingly clear to Android gamers that there’s a fair few ways to play games on their phones/tablets.
Huawei’s excellent range of handsets exist within a different gaming ecosystem, with a different store. It’s called AppGallery, and it’s growing stronger by the hour.
If you want to see this growth in action, look no further than Huawei Developer Conference 2021.
HDC 2021 is taking place from Friday the 22nd until Sunday the 24th of October, and it promises to be an essential event for gamers, developers, and pretty much everybody involved in the mobile games industry.
The theme of this year’s HDC is “Together”, underlining Huawei’s commitment to building a gaming ecosystem that’s smart, safe, and thriving. It’ll boast attendees from all around the world, as well as a stellar line-up of industry speakers.
There will be sessions for developers, executives, and various other stakeholders, several unmissable keynotes, and a number of major announcements.
Last year’s HDC saw the announcement of HarmonyOS 2.0, HMS Core 5.0, HiCar, and EMUI 11, and you can almost certainly expect revelations of the same magnitude this year.
In other words, you can’t afford to skip it.
Huawei is going all out for the gaming sector this year. In the last few months alone the store has welcomed a number of global hits, and you can expect more big announcements at HDC 2021.
Huawei is constantly in talks with the world’s top brands and studios, ensuring a steady flow of great IPs into the AppGallery fold, and the platform is committed to providing game developers with technology, commercial opportunities, and general full-spectrum support.
There are games utilising the folding screen technology too, thanks in part to Huawei’s input.
More evidence of Huawei’s intentions can be found in Game Fest, a huge global campaign launched in 2020 to promote games on the AppGallery platform. The initiative, which involved 13 different developers, generated more than 600 million impressions and increased downloads by 90%.
Huawei is an invaluable ally not only for game developers in China, but for studios all over the world hoping to get a foothold in the vast Chinese games market.
Making it in China can be tough, owing to strict rules around consumer protection and what can be depicted on screen. Huawei can help guide you through this maze of regulations and out the other side.
You’ll be able to benefit from all this wisdom at HDC 2021. The show will contain a number of sessions on mobile gaming, including talks on how to build a next-level gaming experience with GameCenter and how to grow your business through paid promotion.
Finding Your Next Big Win is set to be a particular highlight, delivered by Alexandre Salem, Global Director, Global Gaming Vertical BD, Global Partnerships & Eco-Development Business Dept.
Salem is an industry veteran with more than 13 years experience across banking, strategy consulting, and operational management. Before joining Huawei he led Gaming Strategic Partnerships at Google, and served as Business Performance Director at King, the company behind Candy Crush, Farm Heroes, and others.
The opening keynote, meanwhile, will be based around the topic “On Track to Map the Future” and involve five speakers. These include:
