20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is among the most popular figures in Switzerland. He is also an avid follower of football, supporting FC Basel in the Swiss Super League. While Federer continues to make his comeback to tennis, he decided to visit his countrymen representing the national football team.

The Swiss national team will begin their UEFA Nations League campaign on Thursday against the Czech Republic. However, Federer was present to meet every member of the team, including head coach Murat Yakin at Bad Ragaz (SG).

The 41-year-old has been out of action ever since last year’s Wimbledon. After undergoing multiple knee surgeries, Federer is targeting a return towards the end of this season. While falling to No. 47 in the rankings, this could be one last hurrah for the man with 103 ATP titles.
Federer also announced earlier this year that he will return to his home tournament in Basel. However, it is uncertain if he will be fully fit to return to the event.
