Police are seeing an increase in vehicles targeted for catalytic converters.
Catalytic converters are part of your exhaust system and are generally stolen for the value of the metals they contain.
It can take mere minutes for offenders to access and steal the catalytic converter from a vehicle.
Since late May, police have received increased reports of thieves targeting trucks and vans parked on the street in the Rocklea area.
Most offences have occurred in close proximity to Ipswich Road with no CCTV footage capturing the event.
Police are urging owners and businesses to park vehicles in well lit areas or off the street.
If residents in and around Ipswich Road spot any activity around vehicles that appears suspicious please call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.
If the matter is urgent please call Triple Zero (000).
If you have information for police, contact Policelink by providing information using the online suspicious activity form 24hrs per day at www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting.
Report crime information anonymously via Crime Stoppers. Call 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.

Acknowledgement of CountryToggle Widget
The QPS acknowledges the First Nations – Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia, and their connection to country and community. We pay our respect to all Traditional Owners, and to their Elders past, present and emerging. We pay our respects to the First Nations’ ancestors of this land and their legacy. The foundations by these ancestors — our First Nations people — gives strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous.
