TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Alternate Chair of the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG), Dedy Permadi, said Indonesia would raise three major issues in the series of activities of the G20 Summit in Bali.
“The first issues will be related to connectivity and recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Dedy during a discussion on Thursday, November 10. The forum itself will be discussing how communication via the internet or digital connectivity contributes to post-pandemic recovery.
“A simple example is how to use digital connectivity to sharpen and maintain MSMEs amid an extraordinary economic contraction, where MSMEs can still survive through digital onboarding,” said Dedy.
Dedy stated that if MSMEs could utilize digital instruments, they could survive amid the pandemic. This kind of solution was discussed in the G20 assembly, especially in the DEWG.
The second issue is digital skills and literacy. The point of the issue, Dedy explained, will discuss on how digital skills and literacy can also be a solution to accelerate digital transformation. The simplest example is when dealing with fake news or hoaxes.
“Hoax will be widely circulated if people are not digitally literate. Therefore, this forum will also discuss this matter,” said Dedy.
The third issue is regarding to data free flow with trust and cross-border data flow. The point of the discussion will be related to the flow of cross-border data that is managed between countries, including what if people’s data must cross borders between countries.
“Indonesia itself introduces these three principles for global data governance. The first is transparency, then we also introduce lawfulness and fairness,” said Dedy. These three principles will be the basis for the countries in the world, especially the G20 to build good governance.
