Indonesia is returning the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) units from China to their manufacturer due to performance issues. The ART system, designed to operate autonomously, failed to meet expectations during trials in the future capital city, Nusantara. The Indonesian authorities found that the system required manual intervention in emergency situations, rendering it unreliable for autonomous operation. This decision highlights the importance of rigorous testing and evaluation of new technologies before deployment, especially in critical infrastructure projects.
