Former administrator of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Yesayas Oktavianus revealed that the International Association Football Federation or FIFA had stripped Indonesia’s status as the host nation of the 2023 U-20 World Cup through a letter.
FIFA sent the letter to PSSI after announcing the cancelation of the group stage draw on Mar 31. “The government has received a cancelation letter from FIFA.
However, [PSSI’s leaders] seemed reluctant to announce it to the Indonesian people,” he said in the Good Radio Jakarta podcast on Monday.
According to him, the government is still lobbying FIFA to overturn the cancellation, hence the decision to delay the announcement to the public.
