TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Bali remains one of Indonesia’s most popular destinations during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays among international tourists. The data provided by the Ngurah Rai Class I Immigration Office, 280,000 international tourists arrived at the Bali international airport from December 1-24.
“The arrival of international visitors through the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to date reaches an average of 14,000 people per day. There are signs of it increasing during Christmas and New Year,” said the head of Ngurah Rai Class I Immigration Office on Monday, December 26.
According to Sugito, the majority of international tourists originate from Australia with 67,879 people, Singapore with 30,731 people, India with 27,876 people, Malaysia with 19,490 people, and Russia with 14,823 people.
This influx of foreign visitors is welcomed as a positive sign by the Immigration Office for the recovery of Bali’s economy after the island sustained economic devastation during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. The Immigration Office has also offered visa-on-arrival and free-visa visitation to further boost local tourism. Bali administration logged 1,832,071 tourist visits in 2022.
