A recent survey show her approbation is falling down.
Although she is an American and was seen by millions on television as an actress, Meghan Markle is best known for being part of the British royalty after her marriage to Prince Harry. When the two had their first interview with Oprah, most people had a good approval towards her, but it seems that recently this support has been waning.
Since Politico included her along with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Kanye West, Elizabeth Holmes and Sam Bankman-Fried in a list of “narcissists” for whom the public has lost interest, the Duchess of Sussex’s ratings have gone down.
It is well known that the British tabloids and, in general, most of the media in that country are in favor of the crown, so it is not surprising that there they criticize Markle with everything. But now it is happening that those attacks are also happening on U.S. soil.
In Politico, the column of contributor Joanna Weiss caused them to attack her as “insane” and “casual misogynist”, but Politico is not the only site that has harshly criticized Meghan, and more precisely, the miniseries ‘Harry & Meghan’, produced by Netflix.
The site Variety, through Andrew Wallenstein, president and chief media analyst of Variety Intelligence Platform, was critical of the program, rather than of her directly.
“It’s not that Harry and Meghan don’t have a story worth telling; the prejudice they faced from the royal family and the British press was awful. But telling the story ad nauseam has diminishing returns,” he said.
“At some point, even the darker minds among their fans will tire of their ‘woe is us’ routine as they play the victim card over and over again,” he added.
The problem with ‘Harry & Meghan’ is that throughout its six episodes both Meghan and Harry have repeated what was already in the public domain, so to be repeating it over and over again is tiring America’s audience.
“When a subject states that they have never been ‘allowed’ to tell their side before, a viewer might reasonably expect what follows to offer unforeseen details or novel perspectives. Yet despite extensive interviews with the couple, both together and separately, despite never-before-seen footage of their private lives, Harry & Meghan offers very little that feels fresh enough to merit its lavish six-episode runtime for all but the most ardent royal watchers,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
According to a recent Newsweek poll, Meghan is currently less popular in the United States than Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry. In fact, a smaller percentage of Americans (43%) like Meghan now than Brits did in October 2019 (55%), the year of media hostility.
Therefore, the most convenient now for both would be to stop appearing everywhere saying the same thing, which is going to be very difficult since in a few days ‘Spare’, Harry’s book in which more secrets will be revealed that will make the royals uncomfortable.
