TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono confirmed that the Jakarta provincial government has allocated Rp21 billion for the procurement of EV or electric vehicles, which will be used by city officials for 2023.
“As we all know, electric vehicles are new, the technology is new, so it’s still expensive,” Joko told reporters at the Jakarta City Hall on Friday, March 3, 2023.
Joko did not specify how many units of battery-powered cars will be purchased. Quoted from Antara, the city administration planned to procure 23 electric cars with a total budget of Rp20.3 billion.
Joko explained that this procurement is in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 on the Use of battery-powered vehicles for official government vehicles. “All regional officials are pushed to use electric vehicles. So, actually, there is nothing odd,” Joko said.
The Jakarta provincial government has also allocated a budget for the procurement of official vehicles for Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono.
Based on the website of the National Procurement Agency (LKPP), the budget for Heru’s official car is earmarked at Rp2.3 billion per unit. The type of vehicle is a Jeep with an engine capacity of 4,200 CC.
According to Joko, this procurement is based on the Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) No. 7 of 2006 and the existing Jakarta Governor’s Regulation (Pergub).
Heru Budi, Joko went on, will be provided with two official cars; a Jeep with a budget ceiling of Rp2.3 billion and a 3,000-CC sedan. At present, the Acting Governor is still using the State Secretariat’s official vehicle.
