Kate Garraway met King Charles III while at a Prince’s Trust event but was mortified when she noticed something in the air. Due to the tropical weather outside, the TV presenter felt compelled to apologise to the former Prince of Wales at the time for her odour.
On Friday’s edition of Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway reflected on a time she met the new King.
Alongside co-host Ben Shephard, she recalled: “The last Prince’s Trust event ceremony was a very thundery day,”
“I got soaking wet and smelt like a wet dog. I said to him, not knowing he was going to be the King, ‘I’m so sorry I smell like a wet dog’.”
To Kate’s relief, King Charles III then replied: “Oh, I hadn’t noticed.”

She added: “There was then a massive thunderclap and do you think that was the premonition of things to come? It was like he was Thor, never mind King, that day.”
Her close pal and colleague Ben laughed, replying: “I can’t believe you introduced yourself as smelling like a wet dog.”
Kate has been presenting coverage of the Queen’s death on ITV all week and received praise for her tribute to the Queen on the show.
Today they were joined by I’m A Celebrity star and music producer Naughty Boy to recall anecdotes and meetings with the Royal Family.
Also on Friday’s show, viewers praised Kate’s tribute to the Queen as she wore a pearl necklace with her black ensemble.
Roy tweeted: “Is Kate Garraway wearing her pearls in honour of the Queen? #GMB”
Scott tweeted: “Nice to see Kate wearing a pearl necklace #GMB.”
Ashleigh Key added: “Kate Garraway looks absolutely beautiful this morning on @GMB.”

Among the reflection on the Queen’s life, there was a fiery debate between Former MEP Ben Habib and Bank of Dave owner David Fishwick.
Kate also interviewed Reverend Richard Coles to discuss the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.
He suggested the Queen ought to be remembered as “Queen Elizabeth the Dutiful”.
The reverend and TV personality said: “I don’t think what we will remember about these past few days will be the protests, or Paddington Bear or saturation coverage.
“It will be the queue, it will be Westminster Hall and it will be the ceremonies.”
He concluded: “I think how history decides to remember the Queen, well that is up to history.”
The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September 19 and the ceremony in Westminster Abbey will begin at 11am.
A national two-minute silence will commence at around 11:55am.
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
