King Charles III found out of Queen Elizabeth II’s deteriorating health on the same day as her death, a royal expert has claimed.
The King and Queen Consort Camilla rushed to Balmoral along with other royals last Thursday amid concerns over the former monarch’s health.
Hours later, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II had died aged 96.
And royal expert Jack Royston has revealed that the King was only made aware of his mother’s health just hours before the public found out.
Mr Royston said how George Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush Hager, who had plans to interview the Queen Consort at Dumfries House, heard “footsteps running in the corridor”.
Shortly after Ms Hager was told that the King and Queen Consort had left on a helicopter.
Mr Royston said: “Charles and Camilla were in Dumfries House. Camilla was actually about to record an interview with Jenna Bush Hager, who said she heard footsteps running in the hallway.
“Charles took a call, everything was silent, and they were asked to be silent. Then the next thing she knew, Charles and Camilla were in a helicopter.
“And that was at 12.30, so that was around exactly the same time that we were told.
“So they didn’t wait, they didn’t give Charles an hour or two hours,” he told Newsweek.
Speaking about the morning of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Ms Hager said: “We were setting up the interview, we were at their house.
“We were there at 8.30am, the interview was supposed to start around 2pm or 2.30pm, I was supposed to meet with the now Queen Consort around 1.30pm.
“At 12.30pm we heard sort of running up and down the halls and it was her team and his team, they came in and said can you please be quiet there’s a call — we were right by then Prince Charles’s, now King Charles III’s, office.
“And then all of a sudden we heard a helicopter. They said the Queen is ill and they have gone and rushed off to be with her,” she told NBC.
