Exclusive: Law firm tied to bankruptcy judge resignation did not make conflict disclosures -data analysis

Texas law firm Jackson Walker did not follow standard disclosure practices in at least 27 cases that might have revealed its former partner, Elizabeth Freeman, was secretly in a romantic relationship with U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Jones while the firm was appearing before him, a data analysis by Reuters has found.

If Jackson Walker lawyers knew of the relationship between Jones and Freeman but failed to report the connection in cases the firm was involved in, they may face accusations of having violated bankruptcy disclosure rules as well as professional conduct violations, experts said. Read more.

Sam Bankman-Fried grilled by prosecutor about interviews following FTX’s collapse

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was challenged by prosecutor Danielle Sassoon on Monday over interviews following the cryptocurrency exchange’s collapse, in which he said he was not involved in his Alameda Research hedge fund’s trading.

Earlier in the day, under questioning by his own defense lawyer Mark Cohen, Bankman-Fried sought to dispute prosecutors’ argument he misled the public about the exchange’s health to try to slow a tsunami of customer withdrawals. Read more about his testimony.
